My ‘Boys of Burma’ gallery is a collection of images taken during the the Myanmar New Year Thingyan festival.
Westerners refer to it as the ‘Water Festival’ as people splash and pour water at one another as part of the cleansing
ritual to welcome the New Year. The belief is that they are washing away any bad omens from the past year, in preparation for the New Year that is coming.
The people ( especially the boys ) are very happy to splash and throw water at everyone and have a lot a fun on the process. Thingyan comes
at the hottest time of the year so nobody objects to being doused and everyone joins in the fun. What a wonderful experience it was.
